Ain’t no party like a techy party.
It’s no secret that technology can be (and often is) the key ingredient in a ridiculously fun party. Tech gives a celebration a focal point, bringing together friends and strangers alike in the pursuit of the common goal of individual or team glory.
With an ever-expanding tech market out there just waiting to be sampled, the array of choices can be overwhelming at times. We’ve neatly packaged a few of the key tech party experiences for you to make your choice a little easier…
Retro riot!
Retro gaming would have to be one of our very favourite types of tech experience to form the core of a party. With a retro game, you don’t just get the fun of a presumably classic title. You also get the shared experience of dewy-eyed nostalgia and a novel sense of anachronism.
Our number #1 retro gaming title would have to be Super Smash Bros: Melee for the Nintendo Gamecube (the disc will also work just fine on a Wii). This magnificent beat ‘em up brings together Nintendo’s most iconic characters in an unpredictable struggle to the KO. Friendships are forged and thrown aside in the name of this game.
Fancy winding the clock back even further? If it’s a cosy party, we recommend you dig out Alien Storm for the SEGA Megadrive and hit up the 2-player mode. Co-operative side-scrolling alien bashing par excellence!
SpeedQuizzing
You can now enjoy all the pleasures of the pub quiz experience at your party, thanks to a nifty little app called SpeedQuizzing. Teams play along to the quiz in real time using tablets or smartphones, thus removing the possibility for cheating to take place, with a one point bonus awarded to the quickest team to answer.
Bringing a fast-paced, tech-assisted quiz to your party will add fun, sophistication and individuality to the celebrations in equal measure! If you’re interested in a Speedquizzing demo just check out the site.
Be a karaoke king or queen!
Whether you prefer the DIY approach of getting your own mic and PA and singing along to a karaoke DVD, or you like the sound of simply buying a karaoke machine, a spot of sing-along action is a peerless party starter, and will only get more raucously hilarious as the night goes on. Just don’t allow those who can ‘actually sing’ to participate – they’re guaranteed to ruin the fun.
